Post subject:  Brake line replacements

Just a quick question, the brake lines on my ‘62 850 are looking old and thinking I should replace them. Should I go for braided lines or the standard type.

The metal bundy pipes must remain as steel and should definately be replaced if they look corroded. There was some discussion about copper lines a while back but I cannot remeber if they are legal in Aus.
The flexible hoses are best as braided as they are more durable.

Depends a bit on where you live (don't know the rules in Godzown)...

However, in NSW they must be ADR compliant... no big deal, MSpares sells (certified) Brit Standard compliant braided hoses ..which by ADR definition makes them Oz compliant.

But.. the catch is, NSW have (used to have??) a special rule to the effect that braided hoses are not allowed ..period.

For 30 years I had braided hoses that passed inspection every year .... no one ever noticed.

They are strong... I once managed to lift the car mostly off the ground using the clutch hose  and it still works perfectly.....

Yer pays yer money and takes yer chances......

Cheers, Ian
