Should the rivets for the boot board brackets be painted

From what I have read/seen, they should be painted. They were riveted on and the car then painted. Under the brackets unpainted. I haven't removed mine yet, about the only things left on the shell to remove. |

In the GT they are painted. Cooper S would be the same |
