| Post subject: | Hard sloppy gear changes? |
Took the moke for a squirt around the block, the clutch slave was replaced this week, I thiiiiiink I have adjusted it all according to the book. Going for 3rd gear it seemed to be hard to get it in, same with reverse. What other things could be amiss? |

If it's the el cheapo slave cylinder they have no seal lip spreader, like original ones do. They can suck air in on the upstroke of pedal. If you want one I still have a few left from a batch I made years ago. Or pinch the one out of your old slave cylinder if you have it. Also check if the piston is hitting the circlip if fitted. Caused by linkage wear. This stops the pedal getting full stroke. |

Clutch now working. Bottom clevis pin was shaaaaaaged and creating a whole lot of side movement before engaging. Next thing to try fix. The slop in the rod change. 3rd gear is an open mystery, sometimes it's there, other times it is not... How do I fix this? |

Check the steady bar bush on the diff housing. These are rubber and allergic to A series oil leaks. I make HDPE plastic ones. 2. check for slop in the shifter connect bush, and the 2 roll pins in it. Karcraft has new ones. 3. If the shifter box under the gear lever is FUBAR inside, John Smidt had reconditioned ones, also ask GR about these. |
