I have got a nice set of Cibie Oscar driving lights with good shiny reflectors. However the inside of the glass lenses look a bit cloudy/dirty. Does anyone have any good tips on how to clean these in a minimally invasive manner? I have thought about some kind of soft cleaning pad on a stick poked through the bulb aperture. Anyone got a better idea, or practical experience?
Cheers, Maddog

Don't spray anything in there, or rinse anything. Had the same issue once and damaged the reflective surface by washing it through.
Had success using your suggestion of soft cloth on a stick to remove dust/film from the inside of the lens only. Stay away from the reflective coating.

Interesting that my problems were with Cibie units too - both driving and H4 headlight inserts and not very old. In the past their lenses were always very clear glass. Maybe materials or manufacturing methods have changed? Maybe sometimes the boot doesn't seal tightly enough?

I had the same issue with my Marchal driving lights back in my rally days in the 70's and ruined the reflector of one light attempting to clean the inside of the glass.

Bloody things were worth a weeks apprentice wage at the time too...

Thanks Bill and Rod for your advice. The buildup on the inside of these lenses isn't too bad so I have decided to leave them alone for now. With 100w inserts I expect they will be fine for now. Next problem is to find and fit an alternator to keep the output up to the four Oscars.
Cheers
