| Post subject: | Front brake hose drum Vs Disc Difference? |
I have a pair of front Rubber hoses for a mini and I cant remember if they were for disc brakes or drum brakes. I cant find any part number on the bag or item. What is the difference? does it matter if they are used on the wrong brakes? I read and was mentioned to me ages ago that disc hoses were a bit shorter. If that's the case does anyone know measurements? I was going to use them on some disc brakes, but thought better check. Thank you |

I don't think there is any difference, as long as the threads match I would be using what I had to hand. |

For what it's worth, Minisport say the shorter hose is for disk brakes and the longer hose for drum brakes. Presumably this is related to the distance when on full lock. https://minisport.com.au/hosesa-linesa-switches-valves |

In the 1970s when I converted my K from drums to cooper S discs, I reused the original drum brake hoses. It didn't make any difference. As the actress said to the archbishop, a bit longer is better than being too short..... Whether anyone actually tests these items is doubtful but from Tony's comments above, I would try to buy critical parts like brake hoses, etc., from reputable brake shops using fresh hoses. Old NOS hoses may not be a safe choice. |

Thank you for peoples inputs. These hoses were bought new and just been sitting around a while in my spares. Seems like ok to use, so should be fine. Thank you everyone. |

Just check that the longer hoses don't rub on anything as the suspension and steering components move through their full range of travel. If they do, you will eventually wear a hole in the hose and have no brakes. |
