Post subject:  Rubbing noise drivers side.

I have just recently noticed a light rubbing noise from the drivers side front, only hear it when pushing car into the tight spot I park it in.
It sounds like a brake pad rubbing BUT it seems to be coming from inboard round the drivers side of diff.
Its not the CV on the exhaust, though.
Can brake pad noises travel through the driveshaft to appear to be coming from inboard ? Or is it something more in depth ?

Do you have rubber couplings? Sometimes they swell when old and rub...

No, CV joints on this one.

Excess play in wheel bearings on that side?

As before, would wheel bearing noise appear to be coming from inboard ?

Experienced rubbing noise from RH side front wheel, not inboard though. Thought it was rim rubbing on caliper. Removed wheel, couldn’t see any sign of friction. Decided to check driveshaft nut tension, seemed ok, undid nut anyway, rotated hub to make sure bearings were centred, tensioned nut back up, noise gone. Been fine ever since. Might be worthwhile checking. My 10c worth.

Thanks Clive, I will have to jack that side to check noise and will check your theory while I am at it.
