Does anyone know casting numbers or other identifiers to tell if a crank is a 1098. Going to look at a job lot of parts, trying to find a 1098 crank..

Thanks

Was it the same for all 1098, ie from Morris 1100 to clubman?

I believe it was the only part number for 1100 cranks.

Crack test it before you part with $$$.
They are much more likely to crack than 998 ones.
They need a good fillet radius to survive, sadly some crank grinders don't know or don't care.
I've thrown 2 over the years because of this.
Last one had been reground -0.010" undersize and was hardly worn.

HI Simon
You will find that most 1100 cranks have yellow paint on them, and not all of them have a cut out on the two centre counter weights where they drill down through the centre main to number 2 and 3 pins for the oil way.

We found one, no chance of crack testing it though - it was still in a block and had probably never been out of it since new... grabbed that and a couple of rod change boxes.

You may see it in your workshop in the near future GR ;)
