Thought some might like see this old photo of 3 police minis, courtesy of 'Lost Wollongong' on fb.
By the look of the number plates on the 2 cars nearest the camera, it must have been around early-mid 1969.

Yes, rear of Bathurst Police station.

All were fitted with sun visor and wind deflector as far as I'm aware. They were accessories strongly pushed by the NSW Police Association to reduce the heat in the cabin.

My wife found this photo on a facebook site called 'Lost Wollongong'. I'm not sure whether it claimed to be Wollongong, but if some members on here recognise it as the backyard of Bathurst Police Station, I wonder why it was saying it was from Wollongong? I assume this photo has appeared elsewhere.
Will check on the source, for my own interest.

Yes, it first appeared on the NSW Historic Patrol Vehicles FB Group a few days ago, and has since been copied to some Mini FB Groups. The guy who took the photo was the regular driver of the green S. He identified the others in the photo.

This photo shows a group of North Sydney STP drivers and their cars in the Bathurst yard. They were up there to control spectators heading to the "great race", or whatever it was called back in the 1960's.

If that's an XR Falcon at the rear...they were new 1966 to 1968...then came the XT (68-69)

Good observation.

Being around 1966 I can only assume the first few batches of Mark 1 S's delivered may not have been fitted with visors. Or maybe they were fitted by the dealer at the next service.

Many unanswered questions that keep us on our toes.

Are we forming colour-coded splinter groups now?

Does that make Sea-Mist Green/Willow Green always the Cinderella at the policemens' ball?

I wouldn't worry about phillb's comment as he's obviously not one of the real dedicated Special Burgundy club members since his car has a white roof. Although perhaps he's gradually building up the courage to go monotone? May need some conversion therapy first though.

If he does paint the roof he's welcome to officially join me in the monotone club. :)
