Post subject:  Engine number- UK 1098 motor?

I have acquired a 1098 east-west motor with no fuel pump hole.
Engine number prefix is 10Y Ta H.
No gearbox on it.
Front engine plate is Mini, ie. it doesn't have Morris 1100 engine mounts.

Any ideas?
Not showing in my Oz Mini books.

10Y/Ta/H is typically a Morris 1100 engine number. Maybe the mounts were changed when it was fitted to a Mini.

Did they have an electric fuel pump here? I didn't think so? Might be a UK 1100 I suppose.

I don't know, but item 18 on this lists suggest an electric fuel pump was used in Oz.

Odd that the 1100 had electric but 1100S had mechanical...

If it was an English motor it'd be a pretty rare thing, they only had a couple of models with them fitted

My 1965 Riley Elf with a 9WR small bore engine (998cc) has no fuel pump hole.

The Brits preferred electric pumps.
Mechanical pumps were an Australian content thing in the 60s. Made $$$ for Mr Goss. 8)

The parts fiche for the Australian Morris 1100 shows both an electric and a mechanical fuel pump being used, without identifying the models to which each applied.

There were two version of the electric pump. Page D09_01 below shows the change point with reference to the 10Y/Ta/H engine number.
