Does anybody have the Minisport 4 pot alloy calipers with vented discs fitted to their mini?
I also have the later yellow tag stepped bore master cylinder.
I am finding the pedal pressure for an emergency stop is very high/hard.
I am in the process of putting my car through engineering and the brakes is one of the items.

I have those calipers on my car, but I run a booster for them so no issues with pedal pressure there.
The 4 pot calipers shouldn't be any harder or lighter than normal 8.4 brakes.

What I've found can make a big difference is the pads. When I built one of my cars that ran 8.4's and no booster I put EBC pads in it and the pedal effort needed was quite high - changing them for Bendix pads made the pedal effort much less, and also felt like the car stops much better.

Chances are your high performance calipers might have come with harder / higher temp pads. Maybe try another set before playing with something else?

Thanks Harley
I originally used the Minisport pads and have now fitted EBC Greenstuff pads. So yes I will try a few different types.
Where did you get the Bendix pads from?
Cheers

I got the Bendix ones from Autobarn or something - but those were for stock 8.4 brakes and that was a long time ago.
I'm just running the cheap Mintex pads with my 4pot / vented setup at the moment.

You running a single system master cylinder with a booster?
I have a split system and no booster although when I bought the car it did have a booster fitted to the front only. Not sure if the rear brakes would be doing much work?

I've got rover booster (twin circuit) on my 4pots, but had to add an aftermarket pressure valve to limit the rears.
I'll change the rear cylinders to a smaller size when the car comes apart for a rebuild.
