Hello ,My friend has a morris 1300 auto he has fitted a screw on oil filter, it keeps on blowing the seal on the oil filter ,the engine oil is also the transmission oil. He has been informed that he will have to go back and fit the bolt on type oil filter because of the high pressure. Is this the same in a mini auto ?

it should be the same for the mini auto.. they're the same transmission. They normally have a large filter mounted horizontally

Google says that the oil pressure runs up to 142-158psi (reverse). I'm sure that'd be more than a spin on oil filter would be rated to handle

These boxes run up to 150 psi. No spin on filter will stand this. Fit an original cartridge filter.
There was a thread here I think, Morris1100 had some input, it also came up on American forums.
The relief valve on the motor only controls the pressure in the block not the gearbox.
There is a pressure test plug on the filter housing.
(Edit) on the top of the gearbox.
We owned a 1300 auto for 5 years or so.

Morris 1300 auto has a short fat cartridge filter to clear its engine mount bracket.
Mini auto has a smaller but longer one.
Otherwise much the same box.
It would blow up spin on filters too.

I wonder who is selling these spin on adaptors, they are obviously inadequate for a BMC 998/1098/1275 auto box....

That's 2 M1300 autos I've heard of with this problem in the past week.
