These boxes run up to 150 psi. No spin on filter will stand this. Fit an original cartridge filter.
There was a thread here I think, Morris1100 had some input, it also came up on American forums.
The relief valve on the motor only controls the pressure in the block not the gearbox.
There is a pressure test plug on the filter housing.
(Edit) on the top of the gearbox.
We owned a 1300 auto for 5 years or so.
Morris 1300 auto has a short fat cartridge filter to clear its engine mount bracket.
Mini auto has a smaller but longer one.
Otherwise much the same box.
It would blow up spin on filters too.
