It looks like the 1/4 vent window swivel pin had 2 nylon washers. Any suggestions on where/what to get something to replace them ? Attachment: 20201221_084933.jpg

Bunnings have packs of nylon washers. |

Great, I'll have a scout about and see what matches up. Second question. The old rubber had the slits cut for drainage, matching slots in frame. My thpught is not to cut them out in the new one, as it will drain into the door and promote rust. Am I missing something, should I be letting it drain and just ensure doors are treated and drain properly ? |

There were at least 4 washers used on each vent originally. They were slightly tensioned by the nyloc nut to give resistance to the window so it stayed open in the position it was set and not blown closed by the wind. I got some from Mini King a few years ago but I don't know whether he can be easily contacted now. Bunnings would be an option; also consider fibre washers. |

This is the NOS repair kit that John Smidt sourced from BMC/Leyland and sold when he was at MKO. He has some packed away but not easily accessible at the moment so suggest you try to source the bits elsewhere for now. https://minikingdomonline.com.au/produc ... nd-r-hand/ |

winabbey: I could be wrong but I think that repair kit is for to upper swivel pin. |

Ugh, that would suggest there was a nylon washer in the top as well. I’ll have a think about whether i try doing anything with that. No washers exist in there now, i guess that would help stop it flapping about as well. Although ive read threads about people keeping them shut because the rubber doesnt behave itself |

The components of the lower swivel don't appear in the parts book diagram but the actual parts are listed in the narrative with an asterisk (meaning no image), parts 17-21 below. Although ive read threads about people keeping them shut because the rubber doesnt behave itself The nylon washers in the top pivot have disintegrated on most minis by now. They don't seem to make much difference to tensioning the window. It is the lower washers that also wear away and if they are missing the window will flap in the breeze. I wouldn't worry too much about the missing upper pivot washers. The lower pivot only has the nyloc nut to remove/replace the friction washers - as they are called in winabbey's parts list post above. One of my minis has a rubber seal on the LH door quarter vent that can be pulled out of its groove when closing the window. But it isn't a problem on any of the others. So it's a mini quirk - some do; some don't. |

Slide rule perhaps ![]() The ‘63 850 i had many years ago had a brick thrown through the front passenger pane - very painful to replace. But i did like the deep pockets and simplicity of components. For me the 1/4 gives better air flow when its stinking hot though |

fibre washers from an auto bolt rack will achieve the exact same purpose. Squeak and corrosion free smooth operation...aaaand they won't disintegrate! Then you can adjust the tension nicely too without them coming loose again. |
