Hi all, I picked up what is claimed to be a 1275 engine yesterday that’s been pulled a part. Definitely looks complete but trying to identify the numbers and markings! The block has the number: 12H159AH9022 and other markings stating 12G1279 and a logo of some sort, MOWOG 318 and 20C The head: MOWOG 120940 (hard to read, the 0 maybe a G The crank: 12G1505 (the second 5 very very faint) Refer photos that hopefully attach below! From a Google search it looks like it could be from a 1275GT. So second question. What’s the difference between at GT motor and a normal 1275? |

Head is 12G940 casting number. Commonly used number on a variety of 1275 heads here, from Cooper S MK 2, Clubman GT, Morris 1100S (1275), to early 1275 Moke. 12G1505 crank is large crankpin journal, was used in late Clubman GT?, late Morris 1100S manual or automatic, Morris 1300 automatic, Clubman LS, or 1275 Moke. That engine number has been restamped but not by factory. The rivet hole should be to the left of the 12. Edit Where is the crack you mentioned? |

I’m guessing it’s an autocorrect of “crank”. |

The crank. As you can see not sure if there is a second 5 there on the end!
