Post subject:  Differences between Clubman and Clubman S

Hi All,

Out of curiosity, I was wondering what are the differences between the standard Clubman and Clubman S?

Thanks

We have had both.
Clubby has flat brake drums with 3.5B x 10 wheels.
Clubby S has spacer brake drums with 4.5J X 10 wheels.
The S has better trim and chrome around the front windows. Also a tachometer.
Suspension is the same on both.
There's stuff I forget, it's been years since I had either.

Pretty sure mine (my Daughter's actually) had the 3 dial dash but the extra space was filled with a clock rather than tacho.

It did have the chrome trim and the 4.5 Ro style wheels with the extended drums and flairs.

Don't know if it was standard or an option but it had the radio with built in speaker in the centre of the dash.

I think the 1100 engine was original.

And S badges front and rear :)

Cheers, Ian

I had a Clubman S about 1980. It had 1098 engine and rubber cone suspension (late 74 or early 75 according to John Seddon's book). It had the 3 dials (with clock rather than tacho, as 1071S remembered). Flares, "mags", very good AM radio in the central console, S badges and a bilious "Spanish Olive" colour.
My lasting memory was that no matter how hard you drove the car if you looked at the speedo a minute later, it was doing 80 km/hr.
