I have a 12G940 head that has been reconditioned but the machine shop did not want to attempt removing what is left of the bypass fitting in case he ruined the head.

The bypass is approximately flush with the face of the casting and It is still reasonably thick.
The choices are:
1. Easyout
2. Weld a bolt in it and try and screw it out
3. Put a piece of 10mm bar in it and weld it up.
4. As the bore is 10mm it could be tapped M12 and a plug screwed in.
5. Drill it the root diameter of the current thread and try to peel out the rest of the bypass thread.
What have others found to be successful.
I’m happy to not use the bypass as I was intending to plug it anyway.
