Just wandering how the bonnet spring and latch is? Is it painted the same colour as the car ? One of the last things that need to be painted on my car. Cheers

I would say that your car was painted.

Car 3400 was.

Some cars were just plated. Just depends if the latch hardware was attached when the car was painted.

The paint does chip off.

I don't know the exact change point for the painted vs unpainted bonnet locks but going off a few photos I have of unrestored cars it looks like early cars were painted and from mid to late 1969 they were unpainted.

On a related topic, what finish should the bonnet prop rod have in a mk1?
