The outer rubber belt seal that seals the window when it is up has come adrift After looking at it, it appears previous owners gave up and glued it on but the glue has failed I was going to glue it back on but the rubber strips have been butchered a bit where they fit into the clips Firstly i am interested in buying new ones Who sells the best ones My car has 4 clips per side is that correct And is there any secrets to fitting them Thanks Marc |

Fairly straight forward to fit with the flat S clips. I think it was this piece that needs to be trimmed to length. I don't think you have much choice regarding quality as there's only one type available, to my knowledge. https://minisport.com.au/mini-outer-doo ... mium-stock |

they are common with MGB, you just need to cut them to length |

Pretty sure the ones being sold at Mini spares places are the length to suit MGB, and need to be trimmed to suit Mini. The profile is the same. |

There is also a type that has the felty surface like a late model car. I used them on my latest build and the windows slide much better. I think I got them from classic motoring but would have to double check if you are interested. All types that I have used need to be cut to length HYA2790 From Classic Motoring. Same part number as minisport but, as mentioned, it has a felty glass contact surface. With the rubber contact surface ones from minisport, I found that they would bind to the glass and wind inside out for at least the first 2 weeks until the rubber stiffens up and then they are ok. |

That's interesting. Are you sure it's not the inner seal you are referring to? Classic Motoring describe HYA2790 as a rubber seal and in the description mention the inner felt seal (AHH6508). I would have thought a felt seal on the outside of the window would not be as good as rubber at keeping water out. |

Definitely not the inner. The felty material seems to seal just as good as the rubber. Its the same surface as you find on new cars. It is not like the felt on the inner, it is all rubber but the glass surface part is furry. I didn't realise they were like this until they arrived but was pleasantly surprised. OK, thanks. I wonder where they are sourced and why Classic Motoring have them and not other suppliers? |

Suggest you phone the mini king - John Smidt, he has, over the last 6-8 weeks, supplied me with all the rubbers for my mk1 cooper s which includes f & r screens and filler, flipper windows, quarter glass seals, inner and outer side window seals, bailey channel. They all fitted as they should even if they were hard to fit. John has it all in stock and my biggest problem was the delivery delay with Australia Post despite their expensive watches. Definitely worth a call or order on line if you have access to the part numbers as per pub1056 Cheers Ian |
