Post subject:  Disc brake pads - “Race Brakes”

Hi all,

I got a set of these with my disc brakes. Has anyone heard of them before or used them? I’m wondering if they’re worth giving a shot or will they be unsuitable for a road car? Part number is DB 820

Thanks

Not sure if this helps you but I have a few sets of old Girling and AP branded pad sets for 7.5 inch S disc brakes but they are all labelled as "LDB20 S". Some of the actual pads sets inside the boxes are labelled DS11, which I think is the pad material for road cars, and some are marked DP11, which was specified for SPO41 police minis.

Thanks Bill. It looks like DB820 is the part number for a couple of brands.

I think they are now Race Brakes Sydney (same phone number) so I've sent them an email and waiting for a response

I heard back from Race Brakes Sydney and he thinks they are road/track compound and they were made by Race Brakes Melbourne (which is now closed).

Searching for “brake pad RB74” gives plenty of results on the performance of this particular compound

Wayback machine brought up the goods:

A couple of things to add in this post - DB820 denotes the shape of the Pad - in this case 7.5" Cooper S Disks, over the years i have also seen LDB20 for S brakes

DS11 was the old Ferodo race compound pad - There are likely to be better alternatives available today that don't contain asbestos. I'd chuck them away.
