I've had a fun afternoon trying to get my car working as it used to and I've had no luck

What I had 2 months ago:
25D
Mechanical advance springs removed and tie wired locked
Timing set by Accuspark blackbox
Electronic points set & coil

I've had the car running recently using points and mechanical advance, but I want to get the blackbox working again and go back to the module as the mechanical advance curve isn't right for my car.

What is working and driving OK now:
25D
Mechanical advance
Points and the same coil

I have tried a number of combinations today and I'm trying to figure out why it won't work..
1) Points + mechanical advance = works OK but the curve is not exactly right
2) Points + no advance (locked out) = idles very smooth and stays right on the base timing
3) Points + no advance + blackbox = idles nicely at base timing (10 degrees) but the advance isn't right and I can't drive the car as it breaks down above 2-3000rpm

4) Electronic module + no advance + blackbox = idles nicely at base timing (10 degrees) but the advance isn't right and I can't drive the car as it breaks down above 2-3000rpm
5) Electronic module + no advance = nothing, won't start. This is straight after it runs with the blackbox, which is programmed to add no advance at idle, so it should just work.

I checked the program in the blackbox again today and everything there is still the same.

Any ideas would be welcome

For the benefit of other punters, this black box used to be mine. :wink:

Sounds like you have both a faulty ignition module, and a fault in the black box.
When Chong's Accuspark black box failed it exhibited similar symptoms on the run back from Rylstone. So he bought a CB performance one.

If it won't fire without the black box in circuit, I reckon the ign module is toasted.
