Does anyone know the approximate cost of converting a head to run unleaded fuel? I suspect I have a burnt valve in number 3 but I'm yet to take the head off. So I thought I may look into this as I'm not having great success with Flash Lube.

I was quoted $400 this year for surface skim, seats, seals and re-assembly of the head.

That's cheap

Who quoted that?

Reason for the edit:
I did provide the name, but then changed my mind - i'm not sure if the the company who quoted would still be able to meet that quote in the current climate.
Also not sure on the forum policy for these sort of things. I will check before updating.

Cheers, Paul.

Mine cost me $500, that was a full head service and conversion - pretty sure that included the new valves as well.

I had 1 head converted years ago, poorly and for a lot of $$. Ran other minis with Flashlube. Then gave up using additive and have had no problems on low mileage cars. I don't think the conversion is worthwhile for most minis today.
There are other posts on here that say the same.

I've only heard that unleaded seats can fall out and bomb it. Run 98.

98 has nothing to do with unleaded or leaded fuel heads.

I have unleaded seats in all of my A series engines, no worries. I wonder how factory alloy headed modern cars go? seats fall out?

Don't know about Newcastle but Graham Russell does many in Sydney.
