Hi All,

I have a HS6 carb I want to rebuild and use on the mini when I rebuild the engine. Engine will be 1100 +60 (i think, haven't fully decided yet) and ported 202 head.
I am looking at this kit here: http://www.sumidel.com/shop/item/crk223 but talking to the guys there by email, they couldn't provide me a kit without knowing what vehicle the carby was off.
My guess is they are trying to match jet and needle?

My question here is has anyone here used a HS6 and if so, what jet/needle combination are you using?
I think the jet is 100thou but not certain.

Thanks

I started and finished up with an AO6.

100 thou needle is a Rich on a non-track HS6...on larger engines, SQ is also Rich, C1W is Weak and ST is "standard"...
EDIT: Yellow Spring...

that's silly - they should just trust that you know what you're doing... the kit doesn't include a needle so it shouldn't matter

all carbs bigger than 1.5" use a 100 thou needle, therefore the kit must include a 100 thou jet

I bought that kit for my HS6.
It is for a left hand bowl, right hand interconnected (throttle lever on the right) as viewed looking at the carby inlet.
My carb has a needle in it and I’ll let the tuner sort out the correct one.

Different cars (jags, rovers, minis, etc) have the SU’s mounted at different angles.
Thus the angle on the float bowl (relative to the main carb body) is different to keep the float bowl level.
Thus the original jets (with hose to bowl) differ depending on this angle.
And then there is left and right SU’s which have left and right jets form the factory.
Thus, if you know the model car / carb they can supply a kit with the correct original style jets.
You can also get generic jets with a longer hose, these work but in my opinion look crap.

I don't really! haha hence asking here :)

Thanks everyone for the input, I have seen there are left/right handed jets, I will have to double check which way mine is.
I have seen somewhere before you can buy the spacer between carb body and float bowl to get the different mounting angles...
