Hi everyone,

I was looking to fit this sort of grille to my mini

https://minisport.com.au/mk1-morris-gri ... -and-holes

And I was concerned about clearance for the spotlight brackets behind the grille. I think it would clear the AC compressor fine, it's the drivers side where I don't think it would fit.

I was talking to the guy at minisport to try and explain what I was concerned about and didn't know the name for this part. It appears to be attached to the clutch housing, can anyone tell me what it is? I've included a wider shot and a close up.

Has anyone fitted the grille with spotlights to a rover mini before?

Thanks,

Is that a standard place to have the starter motor on all a-series engines?

Does anyone know if it would interfere with the light mounting bracket of that grille?

Yes that’s the standard place for the starter motor. Yours sticks out a bit more as it’s got an external solenoid which was standard on later cars

I had one of those grilles a few years ago. I’ll see if I have any photos of the clearance. It was tight to the alternator on my car

That'd be great if you had some photos. Between the horn and that starter motor/solenoid there is about a fingers clearance behind the grille at the moment.

I would love to fit that grille as I'd love spotlights. But I've got a body kit which makes it hard to fit the standard spotlight mounts as far as I can tell. Image
