| Post subject: | Assembly drawings? |
Hi All, Often I see a question answered here by someone posting a drawing that looks like it's come from an old factory manual/microfische and shows part numbers etc. Are these drawings available to download from anywhere? I'm about to commence reassembly of my first mini that I bought as a bare body and lots of cardboard boxes. Having these drawings will prevent me from asking lots of questions  Thanks. |

If you're after the parts book with exploded diagrams of assemblies, with part numbers on facing pages, look at this. It includes locally sourced part used for Australian made minis. I've spent a lot of time (and money) in retirement researching and acquiring various factory publications on paper and fiche that may help enthusiasts like you. I'm in the process of packaging some Mini parts publications that I'm happy to make available to Ausmini members for a nominal fee (that will assist in recovering some costs). Be aware the parts books may help answer some of your questions but they are not perfect and sometimes they can cause confusion and result in more questions being asked, so please ask for specific help on here regardless of what you read in workshop manuals and other documents. The Ausmini community is happy to assist you with your project. |

Thanks Guys, I've just sandblasted and painted the front subframe, so I'll soon start assembling all the bits that mount to it. I'll post questions as I go

Today I finally painted this car so I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into the reassembly. It's a bare body at the moment, and I didn't disassemble it, so I have some Q's. Before the subframes go back in I'll do the battery cable, fuel line, rear brake line and steering rack. Have I missed anything else that should go in before the subframes?

If wet you need to get the Hydrolastic pipes in. |

Ben, this photo may help, the car is obviously a hydrolastic vehicle. Subframes were fitted next. One point don't forget to fit the teardrop shaped rear swinging arm buffers to the rear subframe before attaching it to the body. Ask me why I know, haha? |

All hydro had the rear ones in front of the trailing arms. If you bolt the subframe on first you can't get their bolts in. |

While I know I'm opening an old can of worms here, the battery cable can be dealt with later as it didn't pass between the body and rear subframe like the hydro, brake and fuel lines - it came down through the boot floor and passed under the subframe, attached by a P clip to a tag on the subframe near the brake pressure limiting valve. If you were driving behind a mini you often could usually just see the cable hanging down slightly. Leaving aside these petty issues, you have a nice looking project coming along. Is the colour Sea-Mist Green? It will be great to see it back on the road. And that looks to be getting closer. All the best with it - take your time and enjoy it. Even the frustrating bits. |

Thanks guys. Yes, it's Seamist Green. I was concerned it would be a drab colour. It is, but I love it now. No hydro lines, it's on cones now. Does anyone have a pic of the fuel line routing at the rear? |

Ben, have photos of cars where electric fuel pump is under the LHS tank, probably of no use to you. |

Thanks Clive. That would be helpful. I have twin tanks and a pump on the subframe. I could run it anywhere and it would be fine, but I'd like to replicate how it was done originally where possible.. Obviously I'm aware the the tank and pump are not original to this car though
