Just wondering if anyone can post some pictures of a early 67 MK 1 s Tin rocker cover. I have seen some MORRIS stickers or Riveted MORRIS plates amongst other changes

This style was used from early 1966 to late 1969



The early MK1 S (1965-1966) had the riveted plates.

The late MK2 S (1970 - 1971) just had the Hot run tested sticker at the front.

My '66S has had the original engine replaced with a later one, which would have come from a January, 1967 car, according to the Register.
So I am not sure if the rocker cover on it now was from the original '66 motor or the replacement '67 motor, but it does not have any rivet holes.
Mine doesn't have any stickers, as I wasn't sure what they should be.

I have not worked out the exact changeover but i would not be surprised if it was when the camshaft and dissy and engine number stamping changed at 9FSAY 40006

Thanks gtogreen. My car's original engine was 40507 which puts it 499 engines after the change, so either rocker would NOT have rivets.

Also noticed the photos from Sports Car World of their first Cooper S test drive in July, 1966 edition, the rocker cover looks to have rivets on a very early production or even preproduction car.

What is the rego? I might be 65 car that did the rounds of all the magazines for over a year.

(NSW) DXK-552 was the test car in July, 1966 Sports Car World road test. Think you might be right about it being trotted out for the press.
Looking at some old photos and film footage from that period, 'D' prefix number plates look to have ended around 1965 and moved to 'E' plates for 1966. Just curious as to my car's original numbers - assuming it was registered in NSW.

DXK552 was also in the Jan 1966 Modern Motor and Feb - April 1966 Wheels magazines.

Believed to be car YKG2S2 629 that was at the 1965 Bathurst as DWT913

and as a 1967 Rally car EFT685.

Well thats the theory anyway. Hard to believe they went through 3 rego numbers in 3 years.
