Post subject: | Clubman Heater hoses |
Hi All, Quick question - I am wondering which way around the heater hoses go on the clubman heater? Or does it matter? One goes to the outlet on the cylinder head and the other seems to run down the the bottom tank of the radiator. I had to pull the heater out at one point and forgot which way they go back onto the heater tap... (I know should have written it down or taken a picture!) Thanks |

The bottom radiator hose will have a small hose protrusion moulded into it half way down. The heater hose connects to it. There's a small copper pipe insert that connects the two. Cars without a heater have a different bottom hose without the protrusion. |

When I fitted the Mk1 Cooper style heater to my K i connected it this way: - heater matrix upper (outlet) connects to radiator bottom hose - heater matrix lower (inlet) connects to cylinder head via the heater valve |

Being a Clubman it should go from the head outlet to the heater tap on the heater core. The other connection on the heater core then goes to the radiator pipe. Hope that's clear enough for you. |

Thanks for the info everyone. I am really just wondering if it matters which way it goes through the heater tap? |

I think that one way would be warmer than the other. Hottest part of the engine is at number four cylinder and the coldest part would be after the water has travelled through the radiator and heading back into the engine. Scoop is right I think. |
