Hey Irene, i would be willing to buy that 1100S off you if you dont get a reply from the others. It would be an awsome project car, and would make a great tourer. Maybe you could get back to me on this if you really want to sell it. We would be willing to make the drive up from Melbourne to buy it.

Thanks to Irene for entrusting the cars to me. I hope I can deliver the sort of treatment the cars deserve. They wont be hidden from view, but will join the O'keeffe car in a restoration and do the rounds in oz for others to enjoy. Special thanks to Ric and Dave for helping me pick up the cars and bits. Busy weekend road-trip but great fun.G.

I've been have a quiet giggle lately because Greg added both cars to his list of cars on his posts once they were his and none of you even noticed.

PM me your email address and I'll send you the photos. The 1100S is in very, very bad condition as it has been sitting out in the weather for years. The 1100 was at least in a shed up to the rear windscreen, but it too is now outside.

I'm off to the Sydney Royal in the morning and won't be back for a week but am taking my lap top and will be checking my emails while I'm down there.

My poultry definitely comes first for the next week and apart from showing my birds I'm on duty each day at the poultry pavilion as I man (woman?) the Club display for both the Belgian Bantam Club of Australia and the Faverolles Club of Australia.

Great to here they have gone to a good home and will be cared for.

It is a shame however that they were not placed on the open market.

I look foward to seeing them back on the road/track.

The only concern with the open market is my budget may not have been able to fend off foreign investors. Would have been a great shame to see them leave the country. Sometimes as with this case money doesnt mean anything. The Keeffe bathurst car holds a certain sentimental value for me and despite rediculous offers the car will never leave my custody. For Irene this has been hard enough to separate herself from the cars her and Chris shared, given that he only passed away 4 months ago. For her this was the right thing. She is a lovely and genuine lady that was faced with a difficult thing to do. I am only glad I was able to be part of it and ensure the cars are treated the way she wants.
As for the cars Paddy's resto will start in approx 4 weeks once the new garages are finished. Will keep everyone posted on the resto, and as I promised the cars will do the rounds for everyone to see.

It was never about the money with me as I said right from the start.

The highest bidder was not necessarily going to be "the winner" and the cars were never going to be put on the open market.

This was very personal for me and also very difficult. Both my son and I would have loved to keep the cars and restore them ourselves but that was beyond both of us.

Hey - I drove Paddy on the day I went to hospital to have Ben (my son) and he came home in Paddy afterwards. Paddy was very much part of my life for a very long time and I already miss him heaps and lots.

My only criteria was to do the best I could for Paddy (and also Wendy). There was also no way either car was going to leave the country.

What is done is done and I am happy with the transfer of ownership of both cars.

I am only withholding current photos because my "advisers" have said that first impressions count

He needs to come out, have a general all round clean up, get his tyres pumped up, etc, etc.

Let me see what "my advisers" (two very good friends and my son) plus Bob Holden have to say and maybe I will post a couple of photos somewhere.

In the fullness of time I'm sure the whole saga will be documented somewhere.

If this a soap opera then Paddy is the star and I am the director, editor, producer, and whatever else..............

Don't forget - he can always go back into "retirement".

I think a lot of people were holding offers until it was appropriate (i.e. you were ready to accept viewers and offers in light of your loss), as seemed to be indicated by your posts - a simple courtesy.

Perhaps it was just a bit of a shock that at the same time a deal was being done.

Still a good result, knowing they will be safely preserved.

But that's the point - "a lot of people" would not have been given the opportunity to buy the cars, regardless of their offer. The right buyer was found on the strength of their credentials, not their chequebook.

This was a car that was owned by my brother and sold to Chris and Irene as my brother found other interests.

It was everything it was supposed to be and sold to them in good condition with its history. I would have loved to have had it back into family hands but funds wern't going to allow its purchase or its restoration,

I am personally very pleased it has gone to a true enthuistist and not a cheque book. One day perhaps the new owner will let me sit in it and reflect.

On reflection it wasn't an incredibly quick car to drive. It was just a very well built car that did exactly what it was supposed to do and did it very smoothly. Even back then it was carefully weight jacked and predictable
