Very observant of you M, didn't even notice the Spitfire lurking. I know you like your British sports cars.
The booster is for my next Mini, bought November 2017. Rebuilt motor and gearbox last year, just getting all of the other mechanicals ready as it's too hot to do any bodywork atm.

Took it for it's first run on the road (yesterday), needed to get it weighed for the engineers certificate.

Does that mean it got an engine conversion? Or turbo / supercharger?

1275,disk brakes and Suzuki Swift GTi seats. I thought I only needed the certificate for the seat swap, but because it has the bigger motor (more than 20% increase in capacity) and the brake change (even though it’s all Mini parts), they have to be certified as well.

I know some people have gotten a 1275 swap passed without a certificate, but at least this way I know I’m fully legal.

I'd have thought just the seats but the rules need interpretation and sometimes depends on how familiar the engineer is with your make and the options available.

As you say, depends on how you read the rules. No van ever came with a 1275 or discs, and could be considered a different vehicle “series” to the sedan depending on how you determine the model

One person from the RMS told me the 850 is a different series to the Cooper S, so I couldn’t swap in a 1275 and discs without engineering..

The engineer I'm using is quite familiar with Mini's, so I trust his judgement/reasoning.

And you could be right Timmy201, given that the van didn't come with those options it could be even more of a reason to have it done.

Either way I know it will be fully legal.

I guess you could argue that no Mini came with a Morris 1100S motor but countless people in NSW have had this passed, for both full or historic rego.
Including mine. :)

Yep. 1100s just dropped into the Deluxe this arvo. Incredibly tight fit!!!! Need to sort out everything else now because didn’t hook up anything whilst it was being lowered in.

Might have the mini going after 20 years off the road!!!

Welcome Bugs! you may have to take the weight of the engine once more depending on the type of driveshafts you have...after 20 years its a small price to pay :D

Thanks 9YaTaH. All the nuts connecting the hub are loose so I’m thinking I could push the drive shafts in from here.

Spent yesterday afternoon tinkering with the wiring look. Attempting to figure out where it all runs.

Went on a 10hr round trip to collect my new project. An early ‘63 Morris Mini 850. Came with original motor plus 2 spare 850 engine&gearboxes, some spare front and rear subframes, another 64 shell plus a heap of spare doors/boots/bonnets and a stationwagon full of old spares.
Going to be a looooong project but looking forward to it.
