Disconnected the optional Accuspark `Missile switch' and bypass loom from the black box. Not needed with a Lucas starter. :)

What's the missile switch?
As I have the Lucus starter

Thanks DR

The other day driving to work I stalled it and the only way to get it going was to clutch start (turn the key and nothing)

So in the garage today I started playing around and same deal Turn the key nothing

Did a bit of hunting shorted out the new solinoid and bang all good

Swapped out the new with the old and perfect

Moral of the story if it ain't broke don't fix it

Just because it's shiny doesn't mean it works

Bled the clutch again, deefinately need to grab a slave seal spreader

Ran out of fuel on the way out for tea, lucky it was at the top of the hill on the way out and could roll all the way back home for a top up

I put a cup spreader in the other day without disconnecting the hose, and it has helped heaps. ps I haven't even bled the clutch and it all works a lot better than before.

Sometimes when I turn the ignition key I get nothing so I open the bonnet and press the starter button on the solenoid whilst the ignition is off and then I can start the car with the key no problems.

Does this mean my starter motor has a problem more likely than the solenoid.

happy motoring

Sounds like dodgy solenoid if it operates manually but not electrically, the relay inside is not doing it's job...

Well...he did say he shorted it...so that means to "work" (he bypassed both the contact breakers and the solenoid circuit)...

Spent 12 hours making a set of Cobra Classic seats on mini specific frames fit in the car at a height that doesn't require an open sunroof... Now over 2" lower than as the frames come, and the slider almost touches the seat crossmember.

Are they all this much of a pain or do people just put up with the Moke-like driving position :?

Had similar problems with genuine frames for Cobra seats. Ended up remaking the frames to have the rear of each seat sit further back and to include height adjustment and backrake angle.
Still have to remove seats from car to adjust seats forward/backward.

I managed to keep the sliders, but had to cut down and re drill the front brackets as well as cutting down the seat frame. The next big rebuild may see the seat cross member 'revised' to gain a bit more height...

Put 2 new Yoko A008s (Bob Jane, $138 ea, f&b) on the front for traction and the 10 year oldies are now on back.
The 2 geriatric 20 yo ones are now destined for Aaron's khana car. :D

Fitted new pot joints and disc brakes - only taken 3 and a bit years since buying them and done in a day.

Attached two bottom steady bars on either side of the engine - one new requiring a hole to be drilled in the sub-frame the other an old one I disconnected to remove the pot joint to the go with the disc brakes - found the rubber bushes had perished and crystalized and fell apart - bummer.
