Did an oil change - How crap is Castrol GTX 20W50 ?
I have been using Valvoline XLD with no issues. But the last time I was at the shop they had a sale on GTX 20W50.
$10 for 5L - why not give it a go I said? My oil pressure has dropped 20psi when hot and the drop gears are rattling at idle.
Oh well - Ill just call it a $10 engine flush.

I didn't realise how much XLD I'd bought. I must have bought 2 every time I've been in the shop for the last year and I found it all when organising the garage this morning!

Its also the only stuff I don't get at aldis when they have it its well over priced every time they have it like this Saturday for $16.99 for 4 litres

https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys ... or-oil-4l/

I've brought 6 litre bottles for less than that at other places

I had a look through my oils and the only 20w50 I had was Gulf Western. Put that in my pressures have gone back to nearly the same as XLD classic.

Gulf Western Oil isn't rated very highly in my books. I don't think their wine is much chop either but their concrete isn't too bad. (and I have heard no complaints about their sand and soil yard)

So they aren't using the waste oil plant at Penrith any more?

The old girl copped a hiding doing the 300 klicks into Sydney. Sat on about 65-70 MPH for the trip and used 7.9 litres per hundred.

At that pace, the engine is like the Horns of Jericho. My ears are still ringing, but what a great drive.

not for my mini but I've lent out my wideband in a jiffy box to a forum member to help dial in his carbs. Current ones were way off so why bother buying a pair for $50ish incl post just to end up having to modify them anyway when you can do this for cheaper:

Started stripping down some of my spare cylinder heads to prep for a molasses bath. It was a mission getting the valves out, I hope it's all ok once the rust comes off!
