Took my 4 year old for a ride for in the Mini for the first time. "Dad its just like being in the Moke but just faster" (no front screen)

Got a brake pedal that pulls up the mini just. Need to put it on a hoist and bleed it properly and adjust the rears and find some decent front brake pads.

Made a battery cover - can't be much worse than the factory effort, but I've never seen one of those! Looks like this.Image

I dropped my Cobra seats off to get re-padded, then modified the Cobra runners so the rear legs don't punch holes through the carpet and maybe floor.
The legs are tapped M8, so I bolted a 190mm length of 20mm square tube across them to spread the load.
The extra 20mm height is no problem, as the rear legs were too short for comfort anyway.
[edit] After driving it again I found the extra height IS a problem, so I notched the square tubes, turned them over and MIG welded them in between the legs. All good now.

I went to a "Cars and Coffee" Event in Ballarat today, they are held monthly.

Today after walking around for a while, I noticed a Blue 850 (1961) had pulled up next to me.
It was owned by a guy named John Dellaca.
I spoke to him for quite a long time about his various minis, including the ones he raced, and won with, at Bathurst after he returned from the Vietnam War.

Hopefully I'll meet up with him again soon as he lives in the same suburb as me!

Fitted my new Mountney 14" leather wheel & hub from UK. It took 2.5 weeks to get here, but delivery was FREE!! :P

It only cost me $3 more than what I sold my 13" MotaLita for. The 14" is easier on my vintage arms.

The hub only came with Leyland and MG logo stickers. I'm tempted to fit the MG one, it looks nicer.

Wheel same as this-

Did you get yours from Leacy Classics? That's where I got my Mountney from

I got a BMC rosette sticker for mine. They are the same size as the gear knob ones...

Nah sorry, does nothing for me. I'm tossing up between the BMC Rosette, Cooper, or use my MG one. The Leyland one I have looks boring, and my Matic pre-dates Leyland anyway.
