I could store it in Goulburn if it helps.

Me too Timmy, when we spun the engine over it spurted water out of the spark plug holes and some came out just below the head.

Thanks Morris 1100, really appreciate it. We were contemplating getting it tilt trayed to Goulburn yesterday but the towie said he would be 3.5 hours + away, so I've left it at some lovely guys farm who has vintage cars and stopped on the side of the road to give us coolant. I think now when I pick it up it'll just be coming with me to Wollongong.

Thanks though

James

Poor fella!

If you can get it towed back to Canberra, it can stay in my yard till we work it out. I think we must have jinxed it with our conversation at the show

Thanks for your offer Mick

I think I'm going to pick it up Wednesday on a trailer and lug it back to the gong. Will probably sit for a long time before I can afford to pay someone to look at it and fix it! Ha, yeah it was probably listening to us talking about it. Spiteful little thing!

I think the thumb of God came down and smote us from our high perch of mechanical reliability. The hail on Friday was a a first sign perhaps?

If you have trouble getting a trailer up, I have a payen gasket to hand and we could try changing it in situ. Its not far from me if you feel the need. Let us know how you go.

That would be my choice too.

Cheers guys, I'm concerned I've done terminal damage to the engine/cracked the head. I put my infrared temp gun on the head and it was over 180 degrees cel. :\

Yeah, hairy muff.

Still, any trouble and just give us a yell.

Fitted the drivers side bailey channel, several attempts to get it in and sliding freely, still tight and window needs to wind up another 5mm to close?!

Left it for a while and tried to fit the door chrome surrounds, ended up bashing the tip of my thumb with the hammer, just right above the nail.

Time for a cuppa and a few plasters I think...

Further to my earlier post..

Rescued my car from Tarago on Wednesday. Last night after a couple of hours of work we had the head off. Bores seem to look ok-ish in the block but there was coolant in nearly all the cylinders. valves look pretty black/burnt on the head and will need to get it crack tested next.

I don't think there is a worse smell than horribly burnt oil and coolant.

I don't think it got too hot. The ends of the plug leads haven't melted and there is still paint on the head. (unlike a Deluxe I once bought!)

Bandaid or alcamaholic plasters
