I played with the cam timing on the twinky cyl head (a bit) :-) & also started setting up the EFI fuel tank & pump & filter etc ,,, getting it ready to fit the injection stuff :-)

I've been playing with the 850 in preparation for the Cootha Classic this weekend. :D I replaced ignition leads, distributor cap, thermostat housing gasket and adjusted hand brake.
Its amazing how much better all four brakes work after getting the hand brake right.
Now im in the middle of polishing and detailing.

Got the Cooper S discs apart... almost completely. Calipers apart and pistons out... just one castle nut on one hub is not coming, soaking in Lanox for another try tomorrow.

let me guess... wide offset contessas with 165's and standard drums?

this morning, I used my friend's adjustable timing light to check my trigger wheel offset, and just before I checked what needles I have in my carbs - I couldn't remember and now that my ignition is super sparky, I don't need nearly as much fuel - it stinks of petrol

id say so, when i bought them i was told they were LS offset, but cant really do anything about it now as i bought them 2 years ago and only started driving the car recently, have ordered spacer drums.

does anyone know the backspacing, offset etc of LS and wide offset contessas?

pretty sure LS offset contessas won't go on at all with standard drums...

start another thread if you want to discuss offsets etc ;)
