I reckon that collecting vehicle info is a gr8 idea at the very least it may give us some idea of how many are left out there not to mention that we may get an insight as to how many were made when they were made and in what sequence. lets face it we know precious little about these cars!
as far as identity theft goes...seriously have any of you guys tried to buy a set of punches of exactly the same size as the ones used by leyland....its a no go i can vouch for that! it would also be very difficult to restamp a vehicle in the exact place and with the same hammer force that a bored prooduction line worker would have ya'd spot a fake a mile away

By the way whats the general feeling on the "how many" debate i subscribe to the only 500 or so theory althoughh many say 1000 is clooser to the real mark what you say guys and girls

coments taken on board guys....

My only grief with making it all official etc is alot of people were cvery concerned about their privacy and details getting leaked out... as i have started this and assured people that i will not pass on the details to anyone, i would not feel comfortable in get this done officially.....

I will speak to the NSW Mini Club and see if i get any support in this and i will also contact Watto...

but i think that i will speak to the MCC and see if they can give me some authority to do it for them as i dont think they would take the project on with as much passion as i would!

Either way, you would need the VIN number AND a compliance plate wouldn't you???
I have always been curious if mine was a LEGIT one but this thread has confirmed it is, Cheers :D

This 1275LS that was for sale a few months back was the 9th last Mini ever built in Oz. If my memory is correct it was an October build.

I have a couple of pics of this car including the plate on the dash that says it was the 9th last?? Also have the chassis no and build date .....

Should I post them up or would that breach .... something :?

The 3rd last is in NSW and still in the same family that bought it new , it is unreg but perfect with low mileage . It is hi-ho silver and has the plaque on the dash saying it's the 3rd last produced in Aust . The owners are understandably keeping it a low profile and asked that I don't say where . No other details or numbers yet but I may be able to get some pics in the coming weeks , it's not really close to where I am .

Not quite an LS as they were produced in 1978, probably closer to a GT.
