One of those days.......................................3 steps forward 2 steps back
Really looking forward to working on the Mini today.
Started out putting the right swing arm in bit of a fiddle but had some wins and got it in - left some of the finishing off till I got the otherside in. Then things started down hill. The pivot pin kept moving and pushing the rubber dust seal off the inside washer. The knuckle joint came apart 3 times. With the front holes lined up for the mounting bracket there appears to be 1/8" gap between the bottom of the bracket and the underside of the subframe (new fully adjustable brackets) where the two bottom bolts go. Gave up and went back to finish off the other side - the brake pipe wouldn't do up - the flare on the end didn't look right - took it off to fix it and in fixing somehow got the pipe with a right angle bend - when I straightened it it snaped in half

OK leave all that and have an attempt at using the metal cable ties to secure the boots on the steering rack - ended up putting a screw driver through the new boot

Came in before I did any more damage.

I had a day like that the other week. Neighbours must think i am mental. I let out some loud cuss words quite a few times..... " CAARRNATION SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK" or something like that.

I think it was simon K or sports 850 that said something wise. He said " once I break something that costs more than 150 to fix i call it a day" Only problem is if I did that I would never get anything done :) :)

Went to Kc and got some new Oz rack bits to fix 2 of em up...

I'd sooner have a repaired Oz rack filled with 90EP oil than a new `UK' one, but that's just me. 8)

Today I welded in the panels that the front of the rear subframe bolts up to. And I have the left side full length floor half welded in.

Rebuilt 2 Oz racks- 1 for Bez and 1 for Tiny.

And made some 3M long jumper leads for Mini Mad (used 25mm² welding cable).
Must need POWA to jump start these Starlets...

Went to visit mine at the motor trimmers and was very happy at what i saw. The carpet is all in, door cards are in one of my front seats was finished second one was being done while i was there and back seat is ready to be recovered in new material. They just need to do the dash rails and put the seats back in. I reckon it looks fantastic and can't wait to get her home. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Parked the 1152, as soon as I get over the snots I'll get into it and change out the groaning water pump. Then I'll bolt it all back together again, and then take it apart again to fix the leaking water pump gasket. Then, when I've got that sorted and back together I'll take the thermostat cover apart twice more to sort out leaks in that department.

Then I'll probably have to replace a blown bypass hose.

I predict a week in the garage....

I learnt that my custom door bin liners collect water (on the drivers side only). Put it in the shed, sanded and polished some more then bundled up some wires into corrugated tube.
