Carter, did you recondition the cylinder head as a part of the rebuild? What compression numbers are you getting?
More vital pieces of information required!

What we all don't know is whether the engine has recently been running happily with the current plumbing set-up...

We also don't know the answer to Peters question above...

It could be anywhere from a simple PCV issue to a head gasket problem...

Get someone who knows what's what to have a look at it

I was thinking so but was informed that I don't need an extra breather for a road motor?.........had a shocker of a day yesterday hit a kangaroo in the morning and then on the way home after work my mini caught fire..... it has been taken to the panel beaters this morning for an assessment to decide whether it's a write-off or repairable..... money's on a write-off and with less than two weeks till Hay :(

That sucks Carter ,sorry to hear , minis wouldn't be my favourite car to hit a roo in that's for sure,
i should know, i've hit 5 in total just travelling to work over the years , 3 in my Rodeo ute and 2 in my wifes XR6 .

Any idea as to why it caught fire , was it damage from the roo hit ? Hopefully the Insurance company looks after you and you can get it repaired .
