Well, I hope you are, but not to the point of driving you mad!
I really hope this car ends up with someone who will let us see it
at special events. It is fantastic news that it has been saved all
this time. Best wishes and I hope it goes well for you.

Thank you for your good wishes. I have a feeling I might need them. On the other hand I am a very level headed and sensible person and am not in any hurry right now.

I started this quest for information because it was raining and I was curious but felt I had to say why I wanted the information and now the floodgates have definitely opened.

My quest for information rather than for a buyer still comes first but so far I've had two definite offers. One with an amount quoted (but no further information about themselves) and the other without a price (but they have emailed to tell me why they want the car and given me a previous history of their restorations).

My daily mantra now seems to be when I'm ready I'll let you all know and Paddy will go to the person I deem worthy to do the right thing and not the person who offers the highest price.

Hi Maybellene,

If your location is true, then Bob Holden lives up your way. If you have not already talked to him, then i can get his details to you via PM.

He has a stack of old photos, films and stories about the Mini racing days that may help you.

cheers
michael

That's nice to hear ! So many cars go over seas never to return for the mighty $$$
I'm sure Paddy will be treasured where ever he ends up. Personally I would never sell my coops the cooper s

Yes Bob Holden does live locally and I do have his phone number but he's been away and I was waiting until I was sure he was back. I'm hoping he can assist with the history of Paddy. I'm determined to get as much information on the car as I can. Want it to be my legacy or whatever.

Yep - me too. For some reason years ago when I needed a name (other than my own) for the first forum I joined it just popped into my head and I've been using it ever since.

My husband (here we go again) had a massive collection of records (78's, 45s & albums) along with cassette tapes and CDs and DVDs. He love to play the old music and that song came along on a regular basis.

If I was working inside he would just sit and play one 45 after the other and always wanted me to tell him who was singing, which record label, what year, etc.

By the way folks - none of them are for sale!!!!!!

PS (to that last post).

I also currently have well over 8000 books here too. Lost count some time ago as the collection just kept growing and growing.

There would have to be at least a couple of hundred about minis - books, manuals and other bits and peices.

An interesting question would be.....Is it worth more as a single collection...a Mini time capsule/history sort of thing or....
Sold off in separate lots?

Just wandered past Paddy on my way to the feed section of the shed so decided to lift the bonnet and have a look. It all looks pretty good to me considering how long its been since I did that - and the bonnet closed straight back down without any problem.

So.............

The engine number is 9F/sa/Y 45376

He is car number 3181

The paint code is SNOW WHITE 1 / CASTROL RACING GREEN 3

My original idea was to sell everything to just one person and then they could sell or dispose however they wished any items excess to their needs.

Now I think all the "Paddy" stuff with an option to buy more bits will go as one lot. I would also like "Wendy" to be reunited with her engine and she could go with any of her racing and original bits that are still here.

My main aim it to have it all available to be USED and not just sitting in my shed for another 23 years.

Fantastic! That is the answer to a long running debate.
I knew that the works cars could not have been re-sprayed as it was against the rules for Bathurst at the time. But to actually know that they were painted Castrol Green from the factory is astounding. (My own theory was that they used another green that looked like Castrol but I am glad to be proved wrong!).

I own a 68 Cooper S that may have been a Series Production race car but I don't think it was a Bathurst car.
