Usually they are two very different springs but not always.

For example, there's a mini spec 43d which appears to have two identical springs. I pulled two apart and they both looked to have two springs the same.

The heavy spring isn't constantly under tension so doesn't need to be replaced as often unless the curve is to be changed.

Because most of my engines are 998s, I'll probably keep needing the same spec springs. Buying a set of five doesn't make sense.
