Well! I went out and installed another electronic ignition module in my car, and it worked! :D Details in another thread. No pictures, willy.

Now wondering about the smoke coming from underneath the extractor on Cylinder 4... :? It starts as the manifold heats up, so I'm thinking it may be a little spilled oil from the oil change I did at the same time as the electronic module, believeable because, given my dramas with the electronic ignition module (again, see other thread. And previous post in this one), the engine wasn't been fired after the oil change until today. Might buy some degreaser... Hope it's not anything more serious that spilled oil.

Also found that the oil leak (doesn't every Mini have a small oil leak?) is on the driver's side (which I already knew), and it's landing between the sump and subframe, and between the sump plug and the driveshaft. Not a big leak, just leaves a small (maybe 9"sq - 3"x3") patch, marking its territory. Any tips on what the oil might be dripping down there from..? :?

Fixed an oil leak on Bez's newly rebuilt 1293A+ motor.
It was slowly dripping from below the diff.
Problem- somebody before me bent the ear on the diff side cover so it didn't seal the detent O-ring.
Easy fixed- grabbed another cover.

Changed out temperature sender with another I have....it started to show 1/4 warm when the block temperature was only 15 degrees

I know they're prone to overheating the old minis, but that was ridiculous....

tried to change the speedo cable in mine over but found out that you have to take the engine out to get to it easily so will do it later, just have to guess my speed :)

You don't need to take the engine out. It is tough but you can do it.

yer we could get to it, but gave up and will do it when we do the clutch plate and gear seal so we get a bit of wiggle room, thanks though

sorry that made sense with all the stuff i had thought about, forgot you hadnt thought about it :P ,
Well we have to unbolt the engine to do the clutch plate and gear seal. So when its kind of off out we might get a better angle to get at it.
