Hi Winabbey. Ah, the good old days. Remember those Pirelli's well. Had them on my old 67 Cooper S. Fantastic grip on all surfaces, all conditions. Also had Dunlop SP44's for rallying and hillclimb.

Bridgestone RD102 165x10 were the gun choice mid to late 70s , you had to have 28 lbs in the front and 26 lbs in the rear , worked well around our local roundabout !

Ar yes Woody, but in the early 60's there was no such thing as a roundabout down our way. We just practised hand brake turns on a straight bit of road.

Don't like the Falkens in the wet either but lasted ages for me.
I'm running the Yoko A032Rs but I haven't had them on the road yet.

On a related note what are people's thoughts between the A032Rs and the Dunlop D93Js?

I find there isn't that much in them but the A032Rs are stickier. One of my D93Js ended up getting an egg in it (thought the wheel was out of balance) but alas......I retired them. I've never had a problem with the yokos and they grip awesome in the wet and are unbelievable in the dry - my tire of choice.

What about Goodyear G800's. I used them on my hot Mini in the '70's

Michelin XaS were good things back in the day. Before 165/70s were available.

At least Ford thought so too... until they worked out that a thrash around the Mountain was not exactly the same as a cross continental run on the auo bahn/strada/ whatever.... 8)

Mind you, they did work well on Minis... unless there was a Dunlop race tyre to be had.

Cheers, Ian
