Doug I know Ian fairly well.

Would you like me to ask him something about it?

I was in Coffs a few weeks ago and blew a headgasket in my moke just off the freeway. He went and got his trailer and trailered me back to my grandparents to fix it.

So is doing well and still has his minis and derivatives and loving them as much as he always has.

Just lost his enthusiasm for ausmini and I suppose life got busy.

But he is doing well.

Bubbacluby has retrieved a sanitised list from Ian but it only has data for around 80 cars. I think John Sneddon has a more complete list that he's including in his soon to be published book. Others have offered to contribute their 850 data.

The Ausmini moderators are willing to host an 850 Register provided one or more members volunteer to be Registrars. That means being the focal point for collection and checking of data, and formatting for publication.

One option to consider as a way to minimise the administrative effort is to only have a limited number of representative vehicles listed in the register, say one or two cars per month of production. That would enable owners to estimate the month and year their own vehicle was made, which seems to be the most common question.

Are you going to make sure the data is from sales documents or passports to services?
Otherwise it is just taken from people estimating their cars date and not very accurate.

I currently have the details of approximately 400 Morris 850 in my data base.
I have been waiting for the data to be assembled, compare this with my list, adjust accordingly and then post for all on the forum to view.

That's one of the problems with all the registers that have been made public, unfortunately. When you start from nothing there's a natural tendency to accept every submission, unless obviously wrong.

Publishing a list, even with anomalies, provides a good opportunity to cleanse the data. A number of errors in the original Cooper S registers have been corrected as a result of evidence presented, usually by a current owner.

As I said earlier, someone needs to take ownership of the development of the 850 Register if the Ausmini community wants it. I'm happy to arrange a new folder in the Registers section and post the list and updates.

Any update on this John and Doug?

I've done a quick search on here and on some various Facebook pages during the last couple of days and have a list of approx 90-100 cars whose owners have publicly shared the ID plate either via photo or text.

The offer to host an 850 Register on Ausmini is still there. But we need one, or preferably two members to put their hands up to be the focal points (registrars), to collect the various databases that exist among others, to maintain the Excel spreadsheet and forward to me updates from time to time for posting.
