Pedr Davis may have had a few inaccuracies, but he may have been right on this one! Talked to a guy over the weekend ( lots of research because he wants to race his 73 GT at Bathurst) and was told the NSW Police did take delivery of 70 GT's.

The last production run was Jan 73, so yours is one of the last cars but all came out of the factory with hydro suspension. With dry, your car is lighter than with hydro so a little more performance to be had!

Officially, the cars engine numbers were 1200/xxxx, but all the ones I have seen have 1206. Anyone have a 1200 engine number or is this some typo that has become 'official' over time. Reliable info is hard to find! My list shows the Moke with 1204/ engines.

Here's some more info that I have sourced;

1201 &1202 Factory bought short engine,
1203 Single carb (last of the 1100 'S' engines,
1204 Moke
1205 Police Special.

The centre start GTs were the very early GTs (using up parts from the parts bin)
The Clubman GTs were sent to NZ in batches of 200. When they sold all of the 200 then another batch would be sent.

Oh yes, mine has the 1200 engine number. Whether it had been restamped or not I'll never know.
(edit) I note that there are a few 1200 engine numbered GTs in Gavin's web site.
(edit 2 spelling!!!)
