You have to be overprotective, people at shows have no idea!!! Kids touch cars, people rub there hands all over them. So many cars get scratched and damaged at shows like that. Id like to see you spend $46000 on your car, $8000 on your paint job and not look after it. The car gets driven, dont worry about that.

If I was silly enough to spend $46000 on a any car. I would shoot me self. Been going for the past for years and not one scratch. The only scratch I ever got was driving my car into the cinemas for the Italian Job Premier and thats because my damn father gave me the wrong direction and scraped the edge of the door on the cinema door. You cant live in a bubble all ya life.

46,000 is a solid investment but I don't think its silly. I say good on the man. And if I loved my car that much then I would watch out for it.

Bring it to the Qld Mini Muster in brisso next weekend... I'll stand guard!

Obviously Mini Smeg has no idea what a SHOW CAR is. When you own a car that attracts attention it gets damaged because everyone wants to look at it and admire the attention to detail. When you own a car that blends into the crowd it wont get damaged because people dont want to look at. Hint hint. Our cars are on different levels bro.

If I was useless enough to scratch my car, let alone a small car like a Mini into a cinema door because I didnt have any driving skills and then tell people about it on a public forum and blame my Dad for it. I would shoot myself.

I would love to bring it to the muster dewey, but I dont trust transport companies and dont really want to trailer it 2000klms Cairns to Brissy. Maybe next year if I get a bit more organised Ill load it up in a Meteor Rentals Pantec truck and drive down. Make a road trip out of it. Ill be flying down for the day this year anyway to check it all out. Never new it existed until recently. Really looking forward to it. Should be an enjoyable day.

I have nothing against it just find it a bit overboard that is all. Sorry if I had given any offence. Just whole time of being into cars I never heard the extremities people go too.
Deepest Apologies. Plus dont mock my driving skills until you tried driving a mini into a cinema. So get off ya high horse.

Absolutely nothing stopping ya from chucking a tarp/marquee over the car, Hanra. Apart from keeping the car undercover, it gives ya a cool spot to sit around and yak to everyone checking out the car.

And as to me being at all British Day, I gotta see if I'll get a freakin day off work. Stoopid airplanes take a lot of fixing. Which means my clubby is sadly lacking the attention it deserves.

Edit.... As to what a REAL show car is..... it's any car that you're proud of, and willing to show it off. Whether it be a flashy car with no engine internals that gets pushed off a trailer, or a 4.5 tonne Mud Basher. Who cares. You have a spectacular show car, that's great.

The great thing about mini owners, is that every single owner is proud of their car. No matter if it's a little 850 Deluxe to a Rover 1.3 Sports pack, the cars are unique. Anyone with a mini should be proud of their car.

I know what a show car is. 2 mint condition XJS' with under 1000 k's on the clock and sequential serial numbers. And to think that they just sit in the hayshed.

Im not on a high horse, I just get so pissed off when people question the amount of money that I have spent on my car, and why I get over protective with it. A resto that took 8 years to complete, its easy to spend that sort of cash when everything on the car is perfect.

Yeah sure a show car could be anything your proud of, but as with anything in life, people dont want to look at something that isnt pleasing to the eye. I know I wouldnt want to look at a car that had scratches, dints or a crappy interior. I want to look at a car that is faultless, something that I cant see anything wrong with it. Just like with girls, would you want to check out fat ugly chicks all day??? Surely not.

Yes I could throw a marquee over it at the All British Day, but there is still the hassle of getting the car to Townsville. Would have to be trailered down, which is another risk I dont really want to take.

Hanra,
What shows have you or are you intending to enter in? Have you been featured in any mags?

How long has your mini been finished?

Hopefully I will be at the Mini Muster this weekend, maybe we will catch up.

The car has been finished for a little over a year. Have only had the chance to enter one show which was Cairns Wild On Wheels, which I took Top British. Was thinking bout taking the car to Townsville for there All British Day, but doubt will get there. Being in Cairns we dont have a great deal of shows to put the car in, 1-2 shows a year maybe!!

The car has been featured in Nov issue of Queensland Streetcar Magazine, after they spotted it at the Wild On Wheels last August. Have seen your car in Fast Fours, looks the goods.

Intending on flying to Brisbane for the day to check the muster out, providing I can get away from work. Hopefully it will be worth while.
