Hey guys..!! Thanks so much for the help so far... It has original wiper motor (AND it works..!) which has stamped 68 at the bottom. So I presume that its a 68.

I know the next question is gonna sound stupid, but how do you make these things go backwards..?? I am pulling the gearstick to the right expecting to find a gap to pull it down into reverse, but there doesnt seem to be anything there. I have already had to get out and push it to complete a 3 (make that 5) point turn..!!!!!

(please dont laugh.. it took me an hour to realise the button on the floor was for the high beams...!)

On a Mini before 1973, you hit the lever across to the right, hard..

Whereas on later minis you have to lift the stick (pull it up) about 1cm and take it to the right and back - Kind of a lame system really makes you fell like a monkey on a space ship.

Thats right, you just need to belt the stick as hard as you can :x and it will work - mine is always followed by a huge
CRUNCH or CLUNCK or something
