I think approving new members is the way to go as well.

I know someone else has mentioned that have one particular secton that new members can only post in - at first just 1 post per day then once they tell us about themselves and we can see that they are normal people they can have free range of all the different sections - whereas all the spammers will only be able to make 1 post in 1 particular section. This could make it alot easier on mods too rather than having to sift through every section looking for spam.

Or make me a mod to help out - just a thought!

Signed up to another forum the other week and had to give enough details to open a bank account. Yes I know people will lie about it. But then it took almost a week to get my rejection letter. How about rejecting every signup the first time it is submitted saying there were some signup details missing and suggesting they resign if they wish and to fill in the form fully. If people are really serious they will try again, as I did, and get approved. This may at least put a lot of people off who are just spamming. Going through the signups probably wont take as long as chasing the junk posts.
Just my 2c.

Sounds like you just joined Toymods! They details that they demand is a bit beyond a joke.

Yep.

The idea of limiting post numbers sounds good too. Would at least discourage the repeat offenders using multiple signups.
