just a quick note.

that looks to me like a 998LS, if it hasn't already been made obvious. so make sure the seller doesn't try to fool you in to thinking it's a 1275LS (the 1978 1275LS are a limited edition, and quite a bit more valuable than the 998 version). so make sure you're buying the money on what you see as a pretty standard Mini, and don't pay extra because it's made out to be a special model or anything. the 998s were fairly common, and this one looks like it's missing the mag wheels, which are probably the best feature of them (over and above a standard mini anyway).

good info in the rest of the thread too.

4.1 Cortina is pretty quick especially a warm/hot crossflow one. Beat your mini in a straight line, corners though....the 6 cylinder was known for cornering ability, or should I say lack of. I think the 250ci had close to 150hp standard, if it was the high compression model of course.

lol i told u guys...a daily driver,

i do like me corty though.
Power: Yes
Weight: Very light, great for drag/strip racing.
Fuel Economy: Your laughing anywhere between 9L-15L/100km, no its not that bad - provided the carby is tuned properly.

iv only got it beacause its easy to work on - very little electrics, simple motor. and the body shape isnt half bad, i prefer the TC & TD cortys. TFs are too plasticy - atleast with my TE i have nice chrome bumpers.

still looking for that mini....
