Back when a Clubman S was worth more than a Cooper S because it was a newer car! :P

The insurance on a Cooper S was the same as a Porsch or Falcon GT and it was just as easy for a young guy to by a falcon V8 or Torana and avoid the high insurance so backside fell out of the price for mini Cooper S and the police were selling them off at auction in quite high numbers what with the change to Torana's.

I purchased a 67 bathurst car in the late 70s for $500 and my 71 S I got from the cop who had it for 2 weeks as a cop car with only 23,000 miles for $1100 in 74
