I reckon the best bet is meeting up at the Hay Motorkhanas in June - show and shine one day, the next is 70-odd minis racing around on dirt, the whole town welcomes us, the caravan park I stay at has a big open area with a fire pit at one side, and only ever has mini people staying there that weekend - mostly from Hotbricks SA, they're not a bad bunch as long as your mini isn't standard

but to fly the ausmini flag in the khana's would be fan-frigging-tastic - the club rivalry there is enormous, having an interstate group like ausmini there would ROCK

Hay isn't an option if you want Qld members to turn up. They have their annual show n shine on the Sunday of the same weekend.

I know about Hay it has never really attracted me, maybe one day I will be converted

I going to say it but its old school and thought a fresh start to something, no bitchiness, no fights just a gather round and have a laugh, I am with Mutant its not really an option for QLD owners, but I spose going up the coast further north towards say Central Coast is not an option for VIC and SA owners

I was just trying raise a interest in an national event

I will do some more homework and see what I can come with

Thanks
Charlie :(

minimonaro

firstly, remember what the movie said - build it and they will come. This is how the Summernats started. Chic Henry just went out and organised a car show over new year in canberra. btw that means canberra is not a good option if you want to do it at that time of the year.

unfortunately Nelson Bay would be a nightmare for everyone but me to get accommodation. my mother - in - law lives there. but you need to book accommodation about a year in advance over the xmas new year time.

I note from previous posts of yours that you would rather not have an affilliation with any of the clubs. not a bad idea if you want to run a unique event - but it means you got to run it yourself unfortunately. it is like that even if you are in the clubs.

enough of the negative. If Hay is the mini nationals, and is held in winter, call your event the summer mini nationals. pick a spot, give us a date, offer some reasonable entertainment. something like a push khana, twister in the mud etc etc

good luck

Dubbo is a good central spot. we would be in if we could be sure we will have one going by then, but sadly thats unlikely. Its a great idea to get all types of mini enthusiasts together without politics. You might get only a small turnout first time out, but these things grow if they have merrit. Unbiased miniism should be promoted and shared.
Politics, commitees, sub groups, bla bla bla...they dont help save precious tin.
Whats great about ausmini is that everyone helps where thay can reguardless of their modified or purist viewpoint. A meeting of such minilovers can only have positive effect.
If we cant be there this time around we will promise 2 minis next year.

its certainly an interesting point... there isnt much bitching on here any more... its really quite good.
it would be great to bring that same feeling out into the real world, and get together, however we are all from such diverse locations that it can prove difficult, if not impossible to get everyone together at the same time.

minishow is a great get-together (pity its only bi-annually), however I would think something like hanging-rock would be a more social event... something like that maybe?

LOL... perhaps we could shut down one of the ski-mountains and have a hill climb
... speaking of..... Mt tarrengower hill climb is on this weekend...
