You have to admit that Peter's advert on Ebay is certainly entertaining reading. As said previously, I've never had a problem in dealing with him and purchased something from him last week - at a very reasonable price and it was delivered to Sydney next day. In relation to his comment about a recommendation for an engine builder, I note the edits Peter has made - but wish to offer a correction. I can find no evidence on the Service NSW web site that the person who claims credit for engine building at the business previously mentioned by Peter has a Motor Vehicle Tradesperson Certificate. Regards, Tony Cripps.

It's a machine shop, not an automobile repair shop as defined by Fair Trading.

I'm not talking about GR, but the other business previously mentioned by Peter (name of business has now been removed from his advert).

No it's OK, I apologise for my negativity. I wished to show that I don't have any axe to grind with Peter or Graham R, and am happy to give them both credit for what they do well. I do however, strongly object when I believe people receive credit when it's not justified. Regards, Tony

The confusing bit for me is the original purchase price shown in a photo was $700. Now the starting bid is $890. Seems like a shark with inflation like that...

Thanks to the exposure given here, it is now a collector's item where before it was nothing really that remarkable. The new owner of this piece will forever have in their posession "THE" block. Think of the enormous interest in it at a car show or race meeting.

Oh, it's seems Peter and I are having a conversation - he writing in his advert on Ebay, and me here. The licence number at Mini and Moke World (business name has now reappeared in the Ebay advert) referred to by Peter is for a Motor Vehicle Repairers Licence (and also a Motor Dealers Licence which is a separate thing). In such a business, anyone carrying out work (like engine building, body building, electrical work, etc) is required to have a Motor Vehicle Tradesperson Certificate for the type of work carried out and this is only obtained if you have the necessary quallifications and experience. The person who claims credit for engine building at Mini and Moke World does not have (according to Fair Trading) a Motor Vehicle Tradesperson Certificate for any type of work. I hope this clarifies my earlier statement.

Eightfifty, Tony Fisher - Cripps OR Tony Cripps.......many people here know this individual for being overly popous, sitting up there on his high horse ! As has been picked up not just here but on some social media outlets.
All the extra time he has seems to be poured into creating issues " on purpose " OR " making money " selling parts/ infomation on via factory drawings ONLY HE HAS ACCESS TO. Or charges you to give infomation IF he feels like it . His cheap 3 D printed parts are on-sold to Minisport for example.
Funnily enough ONLY AFTER i gave him a list of parts years ago that are hard to come by.

IF you are going to make statements make sure IT IS correct .

AS you have made abundantly clear when trying to take other people to task ,or court who don't do their homework...

WE are ALL licenced at Mini & Moke World P/L , that includes me after thirty PLUS years of work.

Get your facts right .

The NSW Fair Trading Web site lists the following current licences for (GB’s) Mini and Moke World:
• MVRL27831 Motor Vehicle Repairer's Licence 003194214 Expiry 22 Feb 2026
• MD13353 Motor Dealer's Licence 003194214 Expiry 01 Jul 2026

This means that the business presumably has the necessary facilities to undertake motor vehicle repairs and also selling motor vehicles. But, Andrew, if you actually read the requirements for a motor vehicle repair business, it is necessary not only for the business to have the necessary licences, but also for the persons actually doing the work (like you) to have the necessary tradespersons certificates for the type of work being undertaken.

https://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/trad ... 0of%20work.

I note that the NSW Fair Trading web site does not list anyone called Andrew Bergan having a tradespersons certificate to perform motor vehicle work that would include engine building. I therefore assume you personally do not have a suitable trade qualification for this type of work. If you do have such a qualification, then you need to have a Tradespersons Certifiate before you do any work.

Please refer to you web site:

“We have a Body Building Licence so regularly carry out rust repairs and build all sorts of custom modifications (simple things like: Roll Cages, Bucket Seats, cut outs for Right Hand Fuel tanks, Guard modifications for diffrent style/ size wheels or even complete one offs – like our Moke Ute, the Hatchback Mini, our Mini Miami Convertibles…”

If you are undertaking body repairs and body building to the extent as described above then the persons doing that work requires a tradespersons certificate with qualifications as a “body maker”.

To quote from Fair Trading:
Work: Makes or repairs motor vehicle bodies (excludes manufacturing whole new motor vehicles).
Qualification: You need one of the following:
• Certificate III in Automotive Manufacturing Technical Operations – Bus, Truck and Trailer or
• Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade.

I note that you have not registered for a Fair Trading Tradespersons certificate in this area of work.

Also on the (GB’s) Mini and Moke Web site, it is claimed that ““We are Licensed Motor Dismantlers and began wrecking Minis and Mokes over 25 years ago so we carry over $250,000+ worth of Used, Reconditioned and New Parts! Now ofcourse we do our best to preserve them but if it’s parts you need and you can’t get over to us – we can post them to you! “

But, there is no record of (GB’s) Mini and Moke World Pty Ltd as having a “Motor Vehicle Recyclers Licence”.

You can check all the above at
https://verify.licence.nsw.gov.au/home/Motor

So, may I suggest that you explain to your customers just what qualifications you do have for the work you charge them for?

Regards, Tony Cripps
