Part number MYH1019 was supplied.

Thanks TK. Having a part number certainly helps when searching for the introduction of parts.

That R clip part MYH1019 does appear in the both the Mini and the Moke parts microfiche (see below), but not in any hardcopy parts books. To me that says that the R clip replaced the split cotter pin some time in the early to mid 1970's.

Just spoke to John Smidt who believes it was around 1972/73.

The following pages also show change pints for the pedals which was being discussed as a separate topic.

My '69 mini K definitely had cotter pins originally, from new.
Never saw an R clip until many years later. Was obviously tempted to use them but the smallest R clip I could find still fouled on the bodywork around where it operates and I was concerned that it could be dislodged and let the clevis pin work off.

I use them, but trimmed short so they can't be pushed off.

The R clips that you buy today are not worth 2 dollops of goat sh!t , they do not have enough tension on them to keep them in place and are too long , as the clevis pin rotates with pedal activation the clips can touch the bulkhead and push the clip out . I had been using them in my mini for a fair while but twice now I have found the clip from the brake pedal laying in the box section , hence I don't use them any more  .
